Contact us to Share your Story!
Have you ever spent some time watching forestry training or informational films? You could contribute to expanding our research on the making, sharing, and preservation of forestry films!
The Seeing the Trees research team is looking to collect survey responses and/or interview individuals who have had any experience with forestry films as viewers, collectors, makers, distributors or exhibitors that can help us study the cultural impacts of the forest products industry on visual culture in British Columbia.
If you’ve…
- Worked in the Forestry Industry in British Columbia,
- Collected Forestry Industry Films,
- Produced or directed Forestry Films,
- Exhibited Forestry Films, or
- Viewed Forestry Films
Your experience, knowledge, and/or collection can help the Seeing the Trees research team build a unique collection of information along their research journey!
About the Project
My team and I are undertaking a project examining the history of forest industry films in BC called “Seeing the Trees: Conflict and Conservation in British Columbian Forestry Training Films”, and also digitizing and making these films publicly available. We would love to talk with you about your experience with forestry films and assist in digitizing any videos you may have in your collection.
This project has received funding from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council to study forest industry videos and talk about them at a few upcoming media studies conferences, as well as to make them accessible through TRU’s open access media archive, Truspace: tru.arcabc.ca. My team and I are very interested in recording your story about your experience with forestry videos, and including your collection in this archive if possible.
Would you be interested in participating in this project? The project involves either a web-based questionnaire, an interview via phone, Zoom or in person, or, if you have videos to share, letting us know if you want to make them available publicly on Truspace, or to my research team just for research purposes.
